We are going to look at a couple of different pieces of writing to see some of the Puritan values demonstrated in their view of life.

Think of a time when something bad happened to you. How did you feel? What was your reaction? What did you say and do? Share as much of these things in your quickwrite.

Review the poem and your annotations looking for ways the author felt about her house burning down. Driving Question: How does being raised with the Puritan beliefs influence how the narrator deals with the trauma of her house burning down? Select 2 sections that show how she dealt with losing her home (how she kept herself from feeling huge frustrations and loss). These passages will show what she did to keep her emotions and actions controlled and correct. Write in the margin of the poem your answer of how each section of the poem answers the driving question. -write an answer to the driving question that shows why she did to not get frustrated. Write these in the margin area. |

Students will use the notes from yesterday's discussion and revise their paragraph they wrote about the auther's puritan beliefs and her house burning down.
This assignment needs to be revises and "turned in" by the end of today. |

Instructions for 2nd period.
When you have finished working through these questions and making every change possible to your narrative, you will need to submit it to me using Google Classroom.
Here is how:
- open the classroom assignment titled "Finalized Revision of ... paragraph"
- click on the "Add" button
- click on the "Google Drive" button to add your narrative to this assignment.
- double click on "classroom" button and choose our class.
- locate your narrative assignment. Select it to add it to this assignment.
